Natasha Richardson
The thoughts of many have recently gone out to the loved ones of actress Natasha Richardson. Here in Colorado, we unfortunately have a few tragedies similar to this on a regular basis. What is intriguing from a health perspective is that she was originally considered to be o.k. Yet two days later she passed on. As I ponder this type of scenario I am reminded of how similar it is for individuals who get into low speed rear-end automobile collisions. These individuals often don’t feel any pain other than the initial shock from the event. But the literature is replete with scientific evidence that these people indeed can be injured and feel fine initially, and their symptoms may show up as much as a few months later. On the surface it’s another apparent mystery, yet there is scientific basis for it. Dr. Brad Pennington has been helping people with many types of “mystery” pain since 1990. If you or someone you know suffers, please note that Dr. Pennington provides a pain relief guarantee – or it’s free.

From Low Back Pain to the Neck and TMJ
So the other day, Ms. M. came in to see me. She was referred by her massage therapist to come and see what I could do to resolve her issues. She was having a flare-up and really needed some help. Twenty minutes later, she was more than 50% better. Ah, the magic of chiropractic! So she came in again today for a follow up visit and felt so comfortable with what I had done that she decided to tell me about a neck issue and let me work on it as well. So a few minutes later she sits up, pauses and gives me the strangest look! Then she slowly said: “That’s the best my TMJ has felt in years, it’s so relaxed!” She hadn’t even told me that she had been wearing a bite guard at night for years. Yep, about 70% of TMJ problems can be corrected by working with the upper neck. Do you have any pain? Dr. Pennington has practiced since 1990. Pain relief guaranteed or it’s free.

Bumper Car Whiplash?
What? You mean from the kid’s rides? Yes. An article in SPINE discussed just such a scenario. Now this is not meant to scare anyone into not letting themselves or their kids enjoy the pleasures of such normally harmless fun. But, I do want to let you know that you can get a whiplash injury even when “no damage” occurred. Have you or someone you know had pain after a minor accident? Perhaps you or they have even sought help, and no solution was found? Well it’s definitely not just “in your head”. In fact, since low injury damage to soft tissue often won’t show up on diagnostics like x-ray, most physicians have a hard time finding and diagnosing the problem. And this person in the SPINE article ended up suffering for so long that it ended in surgery. Dr. Pennington has been finding and fixing such problems since 1990. www.bradpennington.com303-820-3336 Duffy, M.F., Stuberg, @., DeJong, S., Gold, K.V., & Nystrom, N.A. Lumbar Disc
Another study overwhelmingly indicates that lumbar discs respond well to manipulation.

In this study of 517 patients with protruded lumbar discs, 76.8% had satisfactory results.

Practice is necessary to become proficient in spinal manipulation techniques. As the study stated "The amplitude of force applied cannot be measured and can only be estimated by experience. Therefore, expertise plays an important role in the success of manipulation."

Dr. Pennington has provided excellent chiropractic services since 1990, and is proficient in lumbar manipulation.

Chronic Spinal Pain: Comparing Medication, Acupuncture & Chiropractic
A randomized clinical trial published in a prestigious medical journal demonstrates chiropractic has far superior results for chronic spinal pain.

Chiropractic care over 9 weeks (18 visits) produced a 5X greater amount of individuals reaching complete symptom elimination than medication. And a 3X greater amount than acupuncture.

The medication performed so poorly that a greater % of individuals had an adverse event from the medicine than the % that even had improvement.

People receiving chiropractic were even the most chronic and long term sufferers of all three groups, averaging 8.3 years of chronic pain compared to 4.5 and 6.4 years.

As an added benefit, the chiropractic patients had a 3 to 4X greater improvement in overall general health status.

Is Canola Oil Healthy?
NO, NO, AND NO! In fact, look at this list:
Canola
Soy
Peanut
Safflower
Sunflower
Cottonseed
Corn

All of these oils break down in the body into Prostaglandin E2, and creates of inflammation. Also leading to pain, vascular disease, fibrosis, degenerative joint disease, immune system dysfunction, creation of free radicals, etc.

On the other hand, flax, hemp and walnut oils, cold water fatty fish, and algae sources all build brain synapses and increase production of Serotonin and Dopamine (feel good chemicals).

Chiropractic Doesn't "Last"

So why is it that I get chiropractic adjustments but they just don’t “last”? Well, the simple fact is, they really don’t last. And neither does anything else…

Drinking a glass of water doesn’t “last”.

Getting a massage doesn’t “last”.

Exercising doesn’t “last”.

Eating a meal doesn’t “last”.

Brushing your teeth doesn’t “last”.

Stretching your muscles in Yoga doesn’t “last”.

Getting a good nights sleep doesn’t “last”.

The magic of all the wonderful things in life we can do to take care of ourselves is found in the repetition. Repeatedly exercising. Repeatedly making healthy food choices. Repeatedly cleaning your teeth. Repeatedly getting periodic chiropractic adjustments.

Repeating today, and each week, and each month the valuable choices you make to create health in your body.

Or repeatedly making choices that destroy your health and create dis-ease in your body.

Either way there is an impact from the choices you make, but it is the repetition of those choices that will make a result “last”.
