U.S. military: Heavily armed and medicated

Prescription pill dependency among American troops is on the rise

According to data from a U. S. Army mental-health survey released last year, about 12 percent of soldiers in Iraq and 15 percent of those in Afghanistan reported taking antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, or sleeping pills. Prescriptions for painkillers have also skyrocketed. Data from the Department of Defense last fall showed that as of September 2007, prescriptions for narcotics for active-duty troops had risen to almost 50,000 a month, compared with about 33,000 a month in October 2003, not long after the Iraq war began.

In other words, thousands of American fighters armed with the latest killing technology are taking prescription drugs that the Federal Aviation Administration considers too dangerous for commercial pilots.
Marine Corporal Michael Cataldi tells of the medications he is taking. The prescribed drugs were Klonopin, for anxiety; Zoloft, for depression; and Ambien, to help him sleep. Later, other military doctors added narcotic painkillers for the excruciating pain in his leg, which he'd injured during a training exercise. Doesn’t this cause you to pause and think for a minute? Do you know of individuals who are on multiple medications? How are they? How do they actually seem to you?  Even one of these medications can have scary side effects, and most people can find out these details with a little effort, but when an individual is taking multiple, powerful, mind-altering drugs, something is wrong. Whether they have been ravaged by the terrors of war, or if they simply have trouble dealing with daily life. And that something may be societal in nature.

Sure, people may act “better” or “different” in our eyes, but lets do our own reality check. Can you in any good conscience think that the source of any persons problem is a lack of a pharmaceutically manufactured, artificial, addictive, mind-altering chemical?

If that’s what you truly think, then maybe you’re the one who’s out of your mind.

Optimism Boosts Sales! Why not your health?

There is evidence that supports the theory that individuals and teams possessing high levels of optimism make greater achievements; in goals, sales, money, etc.

When people are in a certain mood – happy or depressed – that mood is often communicated to others. The clinical term is emotional contagion and is essentially “the transmission of moods”. Hence the contagion of optimism transfers to other people. This is an example of how our internal environment guides our external environment.

Probably the greatest epidemic we are facing, and one that is far more real than the swine flu, is pessimism. This can have disastrous consequences on your business outlook, your finances, your friendships, and even your health. So what can you do to stop this epidemic from affecting you? Study and duplicate optimistic people.

Some people always seem to be negative. Some people always seem to get sick or have some new malady. Some people, quite simply, bring you down. Choose your friends wisely. Choose to be around those who can see past the “fear of the moment”.

One motivational speaker, Jim Rohn, says “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Are you hanging out with optimists or pessimists? What kind of emotion is getting spread among your peers and colleagues? Your choices will affect everything from your business life to your health.

Are you optimistic about a healthy future?

Optimism can make a very real difference in your health

Chiropractic Spreading Happiness

Many scientific studies indicate that what we as humans need to be happy is actually quite simple: a deep sense of connection with others. It’s not the number of toys, the newest gadgets, the label on our car, or the design of our purse, or even the size of our house.

Happiness is based upon close relationships, and a sense of reciprocity within those relationships. This makes connectivity one of the primary goals we all seek in life.

We all desire to connect with others, and those of us most capable of doing so are first well connected with ourselves. Sort of like the old adage that you have to first love yourself before being able to best give and receive love, being connected with others first requires your own personal inner connection.

“Chiropractic’s greatest goal is to connect Man the Spirit with Man the Body”. This was stated many years ago and will forever remain true. Those who enjoy the benefits of quality chiropractic care have experienced this for themselves.

Chiropractic provides a physical, chemical and emotional connection that no other health field can come close to imitating. And yes, some even say it provides you with a foundation for a greater spiritual connection, by allowing you the greatest possible experience as a being within the confines of your physical body.

Chiropractic: For better health and happiness.

IS GOVERNMENT YOUR PARENT?

The United States is not a democracy. That’s right, we’re not. We are a voting republic. We have the responsibility to elect officials to represent us in the manner which we feel best interprets our needs and desires. A democracy means that a mob (51%) can rule and control to the detriment of the other 49%. In a republic, the 49% is still valued, protected, and accorded equivalent rights.

It’s supposed to be that we “supply” the power to our chosen officials, to the local governments, to the state governments, and ultimately to the federal government. Government, at every level, is supposed to represent us, to respond to our demands, and perhaps most importantly, to leave us alone when we tell it to.

But increasingly, people have given up their personal responsibility and have instead opted to be “told” what to do in many aspects of their lives. Unfortunately, government has used this opportunity to make itself our parent, presuming we are incapable of making appropriate decisions for ourselves.

Since when do we not have the right to choose what is “best” or “appropriate” for ourselves?

What if you were told which clothes you could wear? What if you were told which foods you could eat? What if you were told where you could go to school? What if you were told which job you were allowed to have? What if you were told what you could and could not learn? What if you were told what health choices you could or could not make for yourself and your children?

Unbelievably, some of these things have already begun. As a human being you have a right to make choices, no matter how wrong someone else thinks they may be.

It is difficult to understand, but there are still people around the world who long to have what were once our freedoms, and we are so lazy we are letting them be taken away from us.

The power of the president, the congress, the representatives, the state and its branches, your local government, even your neighborhood associations come from YOU!

Therefore:

YOU ARE THE PARENT OF GOVERNMENT!

WHAT IS A HABIT?

When some think of habits, many think of negative things like smoking, or annoying little things that friends or co-workers may do. But habits can be quite positive, and we should focus more on our healthy habits.

After all, if we give something the status of a habit, we automatically associate it with something we do quite frequently. Some even go so far as to give a habit greater power than their own will. Can you name 5 healthy habits you personally have? You should have a list of things you do regularly that create better health in your body, and go ahead and give them the status of habit.

After all, a habit is hard to change, right? A habit is something we do almost automatically, right? Make the concept of habit a positive association. Use the power of habit to your advantage.

Want some examples? Try these.

“I eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily.”

“I drink more clean water than all my other liquids combined.”

“I exercise to the point of sweating every day.”

“I get adjusted monthly so my nerve system can properly control and adapt my body.”

“I strengthen my brain by learning something new every day.”

“I exercise my creativity by writing down my thoughts every day.”

Work on your own positive habits and let them automatically create better health for you.

Making Chiropractic Simple
  1. Your nervous system controls well being.
  2. Your nervous system reads what is going on in the environment.
  3. Your nervous system acts to adapt the body to its best survival response.
  4. Stress causes your nervous system to overload.
  5. Continued stress causes an unbalanced neurological pattern and less efficient adaptation.
  6. Less efficient adaptation leads to malfunction, which then creates body symptoms.
  7. Chiropractic adjustments stimulate the central nervous system to restore normal neurological functions.
  8. Chiropractic adjustments stimulate brain activity to alter abnormal neurological patterns.
  9. Chiropractic can help you counter the neurological effects on your body from stress.
  10. Chiropractic can help you counter old behaviors and dis-ease processes.

Swine Flu Swindles Americans Out Of Millions Of $
5-6-09Consider the following excerpts taken from the Associated Press today:“As with the previously tested strains of the swine flu virus, new testing has found that the pathogen remains susceptible to the two common antiviral drugs Tamiflu and Relenza, according to the CDC.”

Hmmm, what are they really saying? Several things really. That the Swine Flu is no more dangerous than any other flu may be one of the most important to notice. But what do they mean by “susceptible” to these two drugs? They mean that if you can deal with the side effects of vomiting, nausea, fever, fatigue, etc., that you MIGHT get 1 to 1.5 days shorter duration of flu symptoms from the virus. If you don’t mind getting flu symptoms from the drugs.

Like always, follow the money. Read these excerpts:“And that has led to a boom in sales of the two drugs in the United States, the AP reported Tuesday. Frightened by the prospects of the swine flu, Americans are snapping up the two antiviral medicines that treat the virus, whether they have it or not.”“More than one-quarter of a million prescriptions for Tamiflu pills alone were filled at retail U.S pharmacies in the week ending last Friday. That's 34 times higher than the week before -- as the regular flu season wound down -- and more than double the peak of last winter's flu season, the news service said.”

Well, at least the pharmaceutical companies continue to scare and scam millions of dollars out of unsuspecting consumers during these difficult financial times.

The WHO reported Tuesday that the disease continues to spread around the globe, with 21 countries reporting 1,490 cases.

Gee, still more likely to die from a lightning strike. But every hero needs a villain, and every little microbe needs to be vilified. This method continues to extract $ from the pockets of consumers stuck in a “war against disease”. If only they focused on creating health in their bodies instead, millions would be saved.

How Does Chiropractic Work?
Despite the fact that millions of people "know" that Chiropractic works, many don't know "how" or "why" it works. And why does it work for so many different kinds of situations and conditions that seem to have no relationship to each other?Research has revealed that the nervous system controls well-being. The nervous system reads what is going on in the environment and then acts to adapt the whole body to its best survival response. If the nervous system overloads, it responds to its best ability; however, continued overloading will cause an unbalanced neurological pattern to develop. This unbalanced or abnormal pattern (the chiropractic words: interference or subluxation) has consequences. The body's systems respond to the abnormal neurological messages and will malfunction until signs or symptoms show up that something is wrong.  Medical response is to render treatment to remove the signs and symptoms. The modern Chiropractic approach is to focus on restoring normal neurological function. This is not a new concept, but after more than 100 years, science has finally caught up with Chiropractic and can prove that Chiropractic adjustments alter brain activity and helps restore normal health responses. The response to stressors is the nervous system's job, and the effectiveness of this neurological function can actually be measured.Today, neural scientists understand that inappropriate responses to stressors are the cause of illness and disease. It is no longer the concept of germs and / or bad parts, but rather a breakdown in the body's systems that lead to illness, including the immune system which is controlled by the nervous system. The Chiropractic adjustment stimulates a neurological response that registers within the central nervous system, which in turn allows the body to alter its abnormal neurological patterns. Repetition or retraining is required and these new neural patterns can be seen and measured with today’s sophisticated technology.Chiropractic can truly alter old behaviors and dis-ease processes, and create new and healthy normal functions within the body.
